Relinquishing a Dog

IF YOU ARE ABOUT TO GIVE UP AND NEED HELP WITH TRAINING ISSUES, PLEASE FEEL FREE TO EMAIL US. BOTH YOU AND YOUR DOG WILL BE HAPPIER IF YOU CAN KEEP YOUR DOG — WE CAN HELP.  If you have to give up your dog, please visit this page.

Found Dogs

If you are contacting us about a found dog, please read this first. SCGSR is a rescue and has no authority to take dogs directly from finders. Dogs are personal property and you MUST make every attempt to get the dog back to its owner. You would want someone to do the same for your dog. Have the dog scanned for a mircochip, put up flyers, post an ad on Craigslist holding back some identifying information. San Diego shelters work very closely with rescue and there is no need to worry – if you are concerned you can put a finder hold on the dog and the shelter will contact you if it isn’t claimed by its owner. If you’re in an area with bad shelters, have the dog vaccinated prior to taking it to the shelter – this one step may save its life. Then put a finder hold on the dog and if its not found by its owner or adopted, start getting in touch with rescues.
